There are always wars going on. There always will be. The war within oneself is winnable, temporarily. Fortunately, there will always be some level of personal war you must engage in. Your level of participation in these inner wars determines your overall level of growth. Engage confidently but do not become so obsessed that you suffer from a self-absorbed state of paralysis.
As the threat of another world involved war looms, it is of urgent importance that we use a significant portion of our power and energy to engage in large scale, solution focused dialogue. Burying your head in the sand is never a useful solution. Personal development via societal ignorance is simply, absurd. Do not run. Do not hide. Do not claim to be so non-political that you forget there are humans involved in and affected by, WAR.
If life was a shipwreck and we were all stranded on an island together (aren’t we?), we would surely splinter into several groups. One group would bury their heads in the sand, attempting to imagine this wasn’t happening. Some others would rant and rave, in the process of trying to find someone… anyone to blame. Yet another group would overstate the obvious… “The ship is broken! We are stranded! This is not good at all!” None of these groups would help in the least. Unfortunately, they would suck up a majority of the energy and attention, even from those who loathed their approaches.
Fortunately, another group would surely emerge. They wouldn’t make as much noise. They’d seem almost annoyingly calm. They would miss out on much of the confusion coming from the others. This small group would immediately begin to brainstorm, strategize, assess, and gather resources. They would be working diligently toward identifying potential solutions to the problem. They may even recruit the talents and labor of those involved in the energy sapping confusion, redirecting their focus toward getting the hell off the island. They’re not the loudest. They’re not the most popular… but never mind all that. They are the LEADERS!
Are you anti-war? Really? Great! Kill the BLAME. LEARN everything you can in order to avoid IGNORANCE. Stay far, far away from HATE. Remember, whether you are talking about WAR, internal struggle, or the struggle to effectively LEAD, the solution is almost always related to the elimination of the concept of US vs. THEM.
Agree? Disagree? Have something to add? Leave a comment! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
